A Needle from Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Needle from Abingdon (AN1935.415b)
This needle (AN1935.415b) was excavated from a cremation (no. 82) at Abingdon in Oxfordshire in 1934.
Several other objects were found in this cremation:
Blue bead from Abingdon (AN1935.415e)
  • a blue glass bead
  • a fragment of decorated pottery
Pin from Abingdon (AN1935.415c)
  • bronze pin
  • bone comb
This was probably the grave of a woman and it shows that the objects placed in cremation burials were very much like those of burials with a body.
