  • 3 bone gaming counters from inside the bowl

From the skeleton this girl was estimated to be about 12 years old. The objects she was buried with are similar to those that would have been buried with an adult woman. The quantity of objects also suggests she was from a wealthy or important family.

The brooches were found in a pair on the chest, with the pin close-by and a string of beads between the brooches. This suggests that she was wearing the same sort of dress as an adult woman and was also wearing a cloak. So it seems Anglo-Saxon girls worn the same sort of clothes as Anglo-Saxon women.

The fragments of bronze were probably part of needle case, so it seems this girl probably did sewing and weaving, as most Anglo-Saxon women would have. In the bowl were found 3 gaming counters, so it looks like this girl also enjoyed playing games.

What other things do you think this girl may have done when she was alive?
