Visiting the Ashmolean Museum 2005-2008 |

The Ashmolean Museum has lots of amazing Anglo-Saxon objects in its collections. All the objects shown on this web site are from the Ashmolean. BUT … At the moment most of these objects are not on display because the Museum is having lots of building work done to transform the Ashmolean for the 21 st Century. Only some of the Museum is open to the public. This transformation includes creating 30 new galleries and an Education Centre. The ‘new’ Museum is scheduled to re-open in late 2008. From 2005-2008 you can look at the Anglo-Saxon objects on this web site. From 2008 we will be welcoming people to the Ashmolean to see the real objects displayed in beautiful new galleries. Education programmes for schools will be available, including an Anglo-Saxon activity. Look out for information in 2008! We are still taking school group bookings for 2005-08 but only a limited programme is available because of limited galleries e.g. Western Art and Egypt.
